We were told by a vet that albinos are more prone to eye problems, but
we have not encountered a lot of that in anyone (except during old age
when it increases as with humans).

When checking for deafness be sure to check pitch as well. We had one
ferret who could not hear high-pitched sounds at all, but did well
enough with lower pitched ones. Have heard of another who couldn't hear
low-pitched sounds. I hope that I am using the word pitch properly.
What I mean is that high sounds like really high female voices couldn't
be heard by our girl, whereas that other person had a ferret who couldn't
hear sounds like bass or baritone voices.
