Hey All.

The other day I received a tearful call from my sister in California.
She had taken her dog, her beloved friend of 13 years in for some "hot
spot" medicine. She left the office with the knowledge that he had a
large mass in his stomach and didn't have much time. She is now faced
with that heavy burden of knowing when it's time to make that choice
of all choices, and deal with the loss that shatters our hearts. I
dedicate this poem to her, and to all of us who have had to make the
choice.

The Choice

Now I lay you down to sleep,
how my heart aches for you.
Loving you and letting go,
so hard for me to do.

To let you go, or keep you here,
The choice was up to me.
The pain ,too much for you to bear,
I had to set you free.

If you should miss me please know this,
I'll love you from afar.
And you can send a kiss to me,
upon a shooting star.
