Ferrets have the same colors regardless of whether they are shown or not.
With their currently being two major 'national' show organizations it is
best to not make it worse by introducing yet more standards. Its not hard
to co-relate colors between LIFE and the AFA. We usually mention both when
we respond anyway.

Both sites you pointed to had taken uncreditted pictures from the AFA site.
These where photographs taken by Sally Heber for the use of the AFA. It
is NOT okay to just steal pictures posted on the web no matter how easy it
may be.

Your rant here is hard to respond to because most of your questions are
best answered by not answering them. The Buddhist mu perhaps.

Not having those two URLs handy I can not just go point out the mistakes.
We did not bookmark them.

>This board is a place for other's to share ferret information and personal
>beliefs should not be critized.

That is incorrect. This board is a place to discuss all topics of ferrets.
There were no stipulations about not correcting misinformation no matter
who believes it. If someone were to post that they believed ferrets were a
threat to the California environment if they were to be legalized you would
see a torrent of email criticizing that belief.

>Rather silence is golden or add site information that would be more
>correct or applicable.

That makes no sense.

The only flaw in the AFA's color names seems to be the black sable. Mostly
because there isn't an equivalent name for the similar champagne or
chocolate.

>FURO (rip) seemed to be trying really hard, and I miss that.

FURO's attempts were rather a joke. Lilac for example. FURO had a really
odd idea about color genetics and there are many flaws in it.

Genetically there seems to be a sable color that doesn't dilute, a
chocolate color that does, the albino or dilute gene, the black mitt
gene, the Waardenburg gene, a roaning gene, and that's about it.

There does not appear to be a red gene for red sables and cinnamons.

So in our opinion the AFA is the best of all the past or present 'national'
ferret groups at matching genetic reality. NAFA is among the worst. LIFE
isn't too bad. Only a few glitches.
