Once again...cleaning up Erich's mess. His may not seem to be an
original name, but Harry Houdini's TRUE name was Erich Weiss (see how
you all learned something today....however trivial...ain't FML great!).
Since I am surnamed Weiss and this little sh*Â¥ is named Erich, he is
my own little sable Houdini. Well named.

Only the second ferret I've ever had who managed to escape out the
door. It took the other one 5 years to do it. Took Erich about 2
hours. Thus, the escape artist name. My own little Houdini...

His greatest and most favorite hobby is climbing up the back of the
refrigerator and onto the top. As "King of the Mountain" Erich has
access to what is on top of the fridge and to all the adjacent
shelving. It's a short leap to the countertop below.

Erich has enriched my life. It's most interesting to find spices under
the couch and behind the toilet. It's a wide awakening to hear a CRASH
in the middle of the night and to find the blender on the floor. I no
longer keep houseplants within view of the top of the fridge. I have
learned to look up before I walk by. One hasn't fully lived until given
the excitement of reaching for milk and having a ferret launch onto
the top of one's head. I'm researching heart-rate and blood pressure
monitors. Never know when might need one or both.

It's really cool (really COLD) to wake up to find the little beast
has pried the fridge door open. What a pretty picture on the floor!
And healthy! We have all 5 food groups mixed together!

I am now into interior decorating. Got some really nice-looking pieces
of duct tape double-securing the fridge door from the top. Got some
beautiful cardboard and more classy duct tape in the spaces between
walls and fridge - from floor to ceiling. It's the latest trend in
ferret-proofing decor. Erich can't get to the back anymore to climb
the mountain.

Erich is NOT happy. I am. Cleaning is like Christmas all over again.
Finding all these neat kitchen appliances, accoutrements, and
condiments EVERYWHERE! Got a kitchen-stuff Gold Mine in all these
hidey-holes.
