There should be a way for you to mention the fight for legalization without
admitting you are a ferret owner.  Couldn't you just read some of the
information from the CFL web page and say you were sent letters from
California ferret owners making you aware of the situation?  As an on the
air personality it would be only normal to be asked to tell a side of a
story.  You could even say you were asked by us ferret owners to set the
record straight after one of "the other" radio stations gave misinformation.
 
Just a thought
 
On another subject.  My 7 month old boy who never did his business out side
his litter box has started pooping by his water bowl on his cage floor.  He
has also increased his "misses" out side the cage.  Any ideas on why he is
suddenly "off the box" ??
