I'm new to the mailing list, so I'm sure this question has been asked at
least once. Anyway, here goes.

I have a neutered male ferret, Paladin, who is 7+ years old. He has
exibited the usual pattern of hair loss along his back. Paladin has also
been straining to urinate, & when he does, it dribbles out.

My vet wants to do exploratory surgery this Friday, as he is very concerned
about the urination problem. My vet feels the prostate is enlarged, and
has also felt an enlarged spleen. He feels sure it is an adrenal problem.

My question is, given the fact that Paladin eats and drinks well, and still
does his dignified war dance, at his age, is he a candidate for surgery?

We all love Paladin dearly, he's such a gentle soul. I want to do the
right thing for him. Any comments?
