My little girl, Kitty, has insulinoma; she was diagnosed about two
months ago. She's about three years old, and weighs a little over a
pound and a half.

Currently, she is getting 0.15ml of Pred split between two doses (I
don't know the strength; the bottle doesn't say. It's a printed label
that the vet's office put on it.) She also gets 0.10ml of
Proglycem/diazoxide twice a day (this one is 50mg per ml). The last
few nights, she has *just* started to zone out about the time I go to
give her the middle-of-the-night dose. Last night, I happened to check
on her a couple of hours before her meds were due and she was already
getting a little glassy-eyed and staggering a little. Since it was a
couple hours too early for the Pred, I gave her some soup, which she
was able to eat with no problem -- just a little slowly. She was much
better in about a half hour, and when I gave her meds at the usual
time, she was normal -- bright-eyed, happy, alert, etc.

My question is: Should I increase her Pred dose, or should I split it
into three doses instead of two? If I increase it, how much should it
be increased? I know that splitting the dose is even harder on the
liver (from research I've done as well as info from a couple of other
vets I contacted online)...but I want her to be as active, happy, and
as healthy as possible.

Yes, I will contact my vet tomorrow to ask his opinion, but while I
like him, I've been a little hesitant about some of his info concerning
my two insulinomic kids. Not distrustful, really; he's a good vet, and
he's done right by my kids for the last four years -- but I'd like some
other opinions. There isn't anyone else locally that handles exotics,
and I really can't go very far on my own (disabilities,, among other
problems). So I need some info, please!

Thanks!
