Hi all --

I was hoping to get some opinions on our last visit to the vet. A little
background first .. . .

a few weeks ago, our Ferts had a bout of ECE (they had had it last August,
so we took all the precautions and eventually the only thing to stop the
runny poopies was Colloidal Silver (Thank you Bev and Charlie Fox for
offering such insight). Within a day, they were all back to normal. though
Freddie was still a bit lethargic. Freddie is our oldest (we think 4,
though he has always acted older).

After a week or two of the gloomies, he started throwing up on Sunday night.
He had been diagnosed with an enlarged spleen (though not rigid, just
bigger) a week or two after he was clear of the ECE. With this addition of
vomiting, we took him to the vet on Monday. We didn't like our old vet, so
he went to the Purdue Vet school. They also feared something with the
spleen size and titing. So, they kept him overnight, and did blood tests
(CBC and chem).

it turns out that his lymphs were high. so, they did a radiograph (x-ray)
and aspirated his spleen. It turns out that he was slightly anemic and that
his spleen had increased in size to produce red blood cells that he was
needing. From the radiograph, they did not seen an obstruction, but we are
assuming the guy had a small hairball or other obstruction (though he was
pooing o.k.).

so, we are home with our guy, he is fine, and we are feeding him some
antibiotics and some laxotone for furrball removal. and we keep telling
ourselves that diagnosing a furball really does cost $200 :/
