H'lo.

Potpie responds to music, but not Noodle or Friday. She doesnt seem to
prefer any particular type of music, but she notices changes in the song -
tempo shifts, starts of new songs, etc.

re: ferret-proofing. While at HQ (home quarters, like builder's square), i
found bathroom 'sheeting,' which is a thin, white, easily-cut plastic that
seems to be the key to all my ferret-proofing needs. it cuts easily to fit
the sides of otherwise easily climbable baby gates, it slides under doors to
protect carpet, and i'm sure it'd nail to doors to temporarily and
reversibly seal gaps. i think the carpentry idea is the best; conversely,
i'd like to warn EVERYONE away from cardboard - once your ferrets realize
they can demolish corrugated cardboard, none of your boxes are safe any
more.

Anyway, the sheeting comes in 6x3 foot sheets, about four sheets to a box.
look for it - it's great. All you need is a simple utility knife or
scissors in a pinch, a hammer, and 1/2" teeny nails.
