As most of you know, I don't have any current ferrets. I keep in touch
with my kids through a kind woman who took them to live with her many
other animals. I remember Ferret Yule, however.

I remember putting up two Big People stockings and three small Ferret
stockings due for filling on Yule Night. I remember untangling Puffo from
yards and yards of shiny ribbon and crumpled paper (not before snapping
a photo). I remember panic attacks from gas-heater singed whiskers: "How
DID you get in this room, anyway?!" I would sigh exasperatedly, comforting
my luckily unharmed Puffo. I remember staying up until midnight waiting
for the ferrets to use their one-hour's-worth of power of speech, and I
remember staring at the three of them piled in their hammock, smugly
refusing to utter so much as a syllable. I remember chasing Janice, Puffo,
and Rembrandt when they had each stolen an ornament off the tree, and how
I found out I was getting blue pyjamas for Yule (Janice had chewed a hole
in the package and was sleeping in it). I remember ferret door juggling
every time someone dropped by with Christmas cheer, and I remember really
enjoying the extra time off school and work so I could play with the
ferrets more.

Merry Ferrets to All, and to All a Ferrety Yule!

love from Christine
