What you described sound more like ringworm.  Ringworm is not a worm at =
all, but a fungus (Like athlete's foot) You may try putting a little
antibiotic cream on the spot, but if I were you I would call and find out
what your vet recommends.  Ringworm is very contagious, so you may start
watching for signs of it on you and any other pets you may own.  Ringworm
looks like a smallish red ring, and is very itchy.  It will grow bigger the
longer it is left untreated, and if left untreated long enough permanent
hair loss may occur.  If treated properly and quickly, no permanent damage
should occur.
