My wife is a science teacher, so we have all sorts of pets. Of course, our
"primary" pets are our two ferrets, but we also have gerbils, a tarantula,
and some hissing cockroaches. In our experience with gerbils and ferrets,
the ferrets never want to eat us after we play with the gerbils. Our female
has a tendancy to get on top of the gerbil cage and scratch at it if we let
her, and she once tried to bite a gerbil (my wife let them get a little too
close :( ) Of course, we may have relatively calm ferrets. But, they are
never more "fond" of us once we handle the gerbils.
