I have been following along your CD experience and my heart goes out
to you.

I remember when this happened in TX a good 10 years ago, it was found
that the unvaccinated ferrets that were vaccinated POST exposure too
CD, all developed CD and passed away ( with the exception of 2 that
survived with neuopathic complications.

I do believe since CD is airborne, once a sick ferret has been found
in the population it is best to shut the location down and ride it out
for 3-6 mos. no ferrets in, no ferrets out in order to contain the
outbreak. The only other choice is euthanizing the entire ferret
population and cleansing. This sounds cruel - and it IS heartbreaking,
but CD can be spread through ferrets that appear healthy. This latter
course is what happens in humane shelters - due to the fact that post
exposure vaccination is costly and increases the probability of the
disease spreading throughout the population.

My prayers are with you all, I do encourage you to investigate the BEST
way to Cleanse the virus form your shelter and hospice centers.
