Hi Ann,
I have 2 domestic dogs and 2 wolfdogs as well. Also 2 cats. Caesar (the
ferret) loves to rough house with the cats and so they go in the bathroom
with their food/water/kittybox while Caesar is playing. The dogs however
have nowhere to go....poor CC(my rottie mix) gets the most attention from
Caesar and absolutely will do nothing but cry and beg me to make him stop
(which I did of course) but when he started harassing Jesi (my border
collie) who is old and fat so doesn't move too quick, consequently making
her a prime target for his rough housing I had to take greater measures
than just removal of the offending creature from my docile doggoddess.
Caesar *HAD* to have his playtime but the dogs couldn't be chucked outside
for hours on end, in all kinds of weather just for one little furball with
sharp teeth. So...before Caesar comes out of the cage I get my trusty
bottle of Bitter Apple and coat CC and Jesi's legs, belly, tail and face.
Sure, the poor pups don't like the taste either (CC gets mad because she
"manicures" her toenails nightly and has to wait for the stuff to wear off)
but Caesar take definate exception and leaves the beasties alone other than
the traditional snuggle and kiss he gets from his bestest bud CC. Yea,
don't believe me? Take a look at
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Delphi/7232/creatures.html under CC or
Caesar you'll find the link to the pics of those two together.

Oh...and the tops of my feet and my ankles get a generous application of
Bitter Apple as well. Caesar is a good schnookums, honest! You can
usually find Bitter Apple at any well supplied pet store.

You know...I was wondering...Bitter Apple kinda tastes like a combination
of rubbing alcohol and Dandelion leaves...maybe a homemade version made
with steeped Danelion leaves/tops would work? Dunno...just a random
thought. Bitter apples INDEED! Crabapples taste better than that hideous
stuff.

Yak yak yak...I'm leaving now. *snicker*

Nancy
and Caesar the Lion..ahem..Canine tamer.
