Lupron does not have to be terribly expensive - my vet wrote a
prescription for 200 mcg monthly depot, and showed me how to administer
it. It cost me $25 per dose to do it that way (from an excellent
compounding pharmacy) and mine did very well on it (both have recently
passed from other causes). They did not mind the injections, were
distracted with a bit of Ferretone or Nutrical.

None of my (many) adrenal ferrets showed any let-up in activity when
successfully treated for adrenal disease ... Dooker had both adrenals
out at age 1 year (very enlarged, one had grown into the vena cava and
lower right lobe of the liver). He was loaded with testosterone, a bad
biter, before surgery. He lost the aggressiveness and biting after
surgery, but not his mischief quotient - was extremely active - finally
passed at age 6 1/2, and had many a memorable escapade in that time. He
terrorized my hubby, opened and cleaned out the refrigerator, twice did
the salad shooter thing (shredded a whole head of lettuce), dove for
raisins, and loved to learn new tricks .... it depends on their age,
temperament, and other factors. I had one perfectly healthy boy who
was quiet and slow his whole life ....
