Jenn's story about her accident with a loose ferret in the car points out
exactly why it's not a good idea.  I'm surprised at the number of people
who choose to travel this way.  This is dangerous!!!
 
Jenn was very lucky, and her ferret is ok also, but what if she hadn't seen
the ferret and crushed him under the gas pedel or brake?  What if the ferret
had found a way *out* of the car - he apparently got caught in the mechanism
as it was.  What if Jenn and her boyfriend had ended up in the hospital?
(Oh, gosh, I'm starting to sound like your mothers!)
 
If you confine your ferrets to a carrier with a litter pan (use a tupperware
pan if it fits better), hammie, blankets, food/water, they won't mind being
in the carrier for however long it takes to get where you're going.
