I had to take Emma in for surgery yesterday. My ex had called and told me
that her vulva had swollen recently, and after the hair loss of last summer
(the local non-ferret vet who did the ultrasound didn't find anything, but
I didn't know any better at the time) I knew it must be adrenal. Well, I
took her to Dr. Weiss in Potomac, MD, a three hour trip one way. She
stayed overnight. This morning around 9:15, she underwent surgery. They
found two tumors, one on each adrenal. They were able to remove them
safely. The left adrenal was completely removed and 1/3 of the right. I
am extremely happy to say that Emma is doing wonderfully according to Dr.
Weiss. She is recovering rapidly and was awake and alert shortly after the
operation. My ex will be driving down to pick her up today. I wish I was
going. Emma is the first ferret I ever had and she is a real doll. I
would be devastated if I lost her. I wish I could see her more or she
could live with me, but occassional visitation privileges are better than
nothing. She is in my thoughts every day.

Thank you, Dr. Weiss, from the bottom of my heart for taking such good
care of my Emma.

Sincerely,
Fred R...
