For gingivitis, I would suggest clindamycin ( 5-10 mg/kg twice daily).  You
can also tryClavamox (10-20- mg/kg two to three times daily).  Both taste
better than Flagyl, and should be more effective.  Flagyl is not my first
choice for oral infections - and anything tastes better.
