The View was one of the shows in which derogatory comments were allowed
about the ferret, during the time that the movie with the ferret came
out: Along Came Polly. A number of us wrote to this show, and let our
displeasure be known.

In the letter I wrote, I let them know that I was disappointed in their
show in general, as I thought that as women, there was much good that
they could do, and should have done. But I saw segments on redecorating
the ladies rooms..truly boring, and heard a number of tacky comments
whenever I sat down to listen to the show. Frankly, in my opinion, the
show has few redeeming factors to inspire ever watching it.

I wrote about the wonderful things the ferret community accomplished, and
how a large number of people were working to help out a shelter Mom who
had cancer. These were the kinds of things that were meaningful, and
that I would like to see on the show. Why could they not at least have a
day a month to bring on animals that needed a forever home? Or children
that need a home: a show once a month intoducing a child in need of love
and family.

I never received a reply.

On Tuesday, The View had on Mark Malone (sp?) and a number of his
animals. I have my back turned to the screen in the office, but my
assistant let me know, as she has never personally seen any of these
ladies have animals on their show.

My assistant nudged me and said that she saw Joy holding a ferret.(!!)
Did this actually happen?

I would venture to guess that having all of these animals on the show
MIGHT have had something to do with the number of people writing in
their displeasure over Joys' comments on ferrets. If so, maybe this
show will-at least at times- be more meaningful and helpfull to others,
instead of the cynical, snide, snippy talk show I have witnessed the
few times I have actually watched it.

The show has been so catty, empty, and with little purpose other than
entertainment of the masses: just the same old, same old. So it was
wonderful to see that they might have actually been making an attempt to
make up to ferret/animal lovers. And they also apparently had on a show
to educate people about animals, as Mr. Malone does so well on his own
show.

If anyone was able to see the show with the sound on, and actually facing
the screen the entire time, please let us know if there was anything
positive said about the ferret.
