To the poster that stated kits are born naked, I have to disagree. The
kits are born with a very soft light coat of fur that the pink skin shows
through. To someone just glancing in or someone that doesn't handle the
kits from the first day they may seem to be naked, but they really aren't.
From the very first day I had my hands on those babies and they have a very
soft velvety feel to the fur.

My girls were very happy to have me check on their babies and allowed
sisters and brothers and fathers and the dogs to do the same. We were
always just one big happy family. It was funny to watch my german shepherd
clean each and every baby with his large soft tongue and then have momma
ferret have to do it all over again because the babies smelled like dog. I
think we had the cleanest babies around. :-)

As much as I love baby ferrets I felt responsible for each and every life
that passed through my hands. It was for this reason that I quit breeding
and switched to rescue. With the last litter I kept 4 of the girls and had
everyone spayed. A few months later Nikki was neutered. Since then our
family has grown and all are altered.

Hugs to all. tle
