Wow! And I thought 1984 had passed!!

No joking, I had no idea the Californian Fish & Game was so severe in their
hunt for ferrets/& owners. What Ilona wrote was just scary because it seems
that they can just come barging into your houses at a "sniff" of a ferret.

I thought we were bad in Australia - those of you who have visited our
shores will know how it is when Customs come into planes and spray the
cabins with whatever it is - it's fairly yukky - but I have always respected
the Government's concern about diseases. I know we cannot import ferrets
into Australia (you can only do it through zoos) and while I don't
understand the reasons, I do hope - with time - we can change the reasons.

However - to get back to Ilona's posting - it seems to be that what happens
in California is just so totally unreasonable and how do you guys fight
against bureaucracy?

Just to let you know how we "promote" ferrets here - Philip takes our 6 down
to the local children's hospital, when asked, and the kids think they are
fabulous. Mash (our teensy little albino) was our son's hockey team
mas(h)cot during last year's game. We were featured on a "Talk to the
Animals" show in April - at that time we had 17 ferrets! This is not to
brag - just to ask - Can we help at all, even though we are so far away?
Oh, BTW, we also have 5 cats and a 9-year old Rottweiler!

I would love to help if you needed me to re the F&G. Please feel free to
email me direct if need be.

G'dooks and more power to the ferts :-))))
