This may be redundant to you, your vet has probably already mentioned this,
but your post didn't.  Swollen vulva is also a sign of adrenal gland tumors
and can appear without the hair loss at first.  Since you said that no
ovarian remnants could be found, I thought I should mention this just in
case.  Good luck!
