Yesterday evening, after spending the afternoon w/ a friend who'd broken
her back sled riding(!), I came home and started giving each ferret play
group their turn out time.

I left Shiloh and Amadeus play in my bedroom for awhile. They gave me
plently of laughs while they tunneled through the sheets and blankets on my
bed...never managing to be in the same level at the same time. No sooner
did one dive in the other poked out! What was even more amazing, neither
one attacked the moving lump!

By the time Ozzie was doing his thing in the living room, I was lounging on
the couch w/ my shoes off. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him jumping
up to the back of the couch...where I keep my shoes when any of the kids
are out because they like to steal my orthotic and ferret it away.

I grabbed Ozzie, kissed and cuddled him, and put him on the floor...four
times. At which point I took the orthotic out of my shoe and sat on it to
keep it safe and figured I'd just let him play w/ my shoes.

BAAAAAD IDEA! When I went to put my shoes on to walk Tess (40# ferret
toy) I could only find ONE of them! So I went into the bedroom to get a
different pair of shoes...guess what? Yup. One shoe from another pair.
Luckily the left one...to go w/ the right one still in the living room (AND
I still had the orthotic). I figured that the chance of anyone noticing
that my white atheletic shoes didn't match was pretty low at 8:30 at night,
so off I went.

Now, I know some of you think I'm pretty loony...and I guess I am, but
going barefoot would have been much worse, right?

When I got home I continued looking for the missing shoe in the living
room. No luck. I looked on and off until I went to bed, no left shoe.
Sigh. No right shoe in the bedroom. Double sigh.

I woke up this morning andI happened to glance where I'd found the left
shoe in my bedroom...and there, sitting in the exact same place in the
exact same position, was the right shoe!

(Hum theme forTwilight Zone here..)

Oh well, at least I had a matched pair to walk Tess this morning and wear
to work. But cripes, isn't it bad enough that they've hidden one sock from
4 different pairs this week? Did they have to start stealing shoes, too?

Grumble, still, gotta' love these little cuties!
