Well, the boys from Cedar Rapids are safely tucked in at home. It was a
bit heart tugging as we didn't quite make the connections we originally
planned but all worked out and obviously as it should have.

We made good time to Omaha but got lost on the way to Spaghetti Works.
Why in the world the map-it program sent us out by the airport is beyond
my realm of thinking. Anyway we stopped and Nancy asked directions and
we finally got there. Had a nice lunch then headed over to Guy and his
roommates home. Had a wonderful warm visit and played with adorable sweet
fuzzies (aren't they all). Chester ferret took a liking to Nancy and their
14 wk old Min Pin, Napolian took a liking to me. The others weren't real
sure about the two nutty ladies as was Penny the older Min Pin. After our
visit we loaded up the boys and their supplies and we headed back to
Kansas. We stopped at the first convenience store to get ice and the clerk
noticed my ferret shirt and asked if I wanted another. His sister had one
she had to find a home for right away so we drove to Plattsmouth and met
with his sister and little Golden. Poor Golden was loaded with fleas so we
put advantage on her right away and I picked several fleas off as we were
finding out her history. The girl said her vet told her she couldn't use
Advantage on ferrets so we let her know it was safe and asked that she also
tell her vet. Then we were off again. An hour down the road we found a
rest stop with hot/cold water in the ladies room so I took Golden in and
bathed her. Not one living flea on her. The Advantage worked like a charm
and Golden felt much better after her bath and cage cleaning.

When we got back home I tucked the boys, Ulysses and Spartan, safely in
the bathroom with their food and water. They quickly found the open door
on the cabinet and the warm comfy blanket inside. I didn't want to stress
them too much so I put up the plexi-glass barrier and let only one ferret
in at a time to meet them. Ulysses (he's the one with cancer) was
friendly with some and not so friendly with others. Spartan didn't have a
concern with anyone. Both boys have had their world turned topsy turvy so
I'm taking integration slow. I left them in the bathroom for the night.

Golden I put down with the group and she was not happy at all. sigh.
She'll also be a slower integration but she doesn't get along with the two
boys so I can't put her with them.

It was a long day but everyone is safely tucked in at home.

It was a fun trip. Nancy said it's scary how much fun we have together on
trips. (I guess women our age shouldn't have fun?) ;-)

And now for the THANK YOU's -
Lisa, thank you so much for picking up the boys from Vicky.
Guy, thank you so much for picking up the boys from Lisa.

the ferrets and me.

Without all of you, this little adventure would not have been possible.
You'll never know how grateful I am for all your help.

And to the powers that be, thank you so much for putting us in the right
place at the right time to be able to help Golden. I fear she may have
died from flea anemia had we not gotten her when we did.

And BIG, thank you for the FML, which played a big part in our adventure
too.

Ulysses, Spartan, and Golden may not yet be grateful for all your help,
but they'll come around. ;-)

Hugs to all. tle
