My 3 critters also love to chase the vacuum cleaner.  Ferrah likes it
best when I'm using the hose attachment.  She'll stick her nose right
into it!  Sometimes I get worried that she's going to get sucked up.
 
I race 1/10 scale radio controlled cars.  I was working on it in the
house one day, when Kitty discovered the tires.  We all know how
irresistable rubber is to ferrets, well Kitty decided to take the nice
big rubber tire for his own.  It's funny to see a ferret dragging a
4 pound R/C car around.  He had it in a death grip by a front tire,
when I decided to try and drive the car. (For those who don't know,
these cars will do about 30MPH!)  Kitty got dragged for a second,
flipped over, and then run over by the car.  Boy, was he pissed!
He went back after the car, out for blood.  This time he grabbed a back
tire.  You can probably guess what happened next.  Yep, his mean owner
tried to drive the car again.  Kitty rolled over 2 or 3 times (his head
getting run over in the process) before he let go.
 
Since then, I have to keep the car out of Kitty's sight.  He'll do
anything to get that car again.  Tires not on the car are ignored.
I'm not sure if he is playing with it, or wants to get even with it
for running him over.  I suspect that is more of "I have to be quick
and sneaky about this, because it will be taken from me if I'm caught."
The way he attacks the car is the same way that he attacks shoes, if
acidentally left on the floor. (Without feet in them)
 
And about ferret movies in their heads, that was a GREAT way to put it!!!
I've always thought that they can see into the 4th (or 5th or 6th....)
dimension, and are playing with friends from over there.
