To Judi Lunn-- Nutra has another line of food called Nutra Max. The
kitten variety has a minimum of 34% protein, and my finicky eater Amelia
loves this food (of course, it's triangular, so now I'm paranoid about it
getting stuck in the roof of her mouth). I don't know what percentage
the adult food has, but I think it is also high. Amelia also has no
inclination towards 8in1 products, so maybe this food will meet all your
ferrets' needs and tastes.
On the subject of old ferret care books, there's a book from the 1920s in
the library here at McGill on ferret care, from the point of view of
keeping them as hunting ferrets. This author still had to admit that
they are friendly little things-- he told a story of a ferret following
its ten year old owner two miles to school. THere's also a wonderfully
Magritte-like photo of a man in a bowler derby holding a sable ferret in
one hand and a white one in the other, with the caption 'ferrets are tame
and easily handled'. If anyone wants to know the name of the book, I can
look it up for you.

Have a happy ferrety Wednesday, Regina and Amelia
