Alissa, Hi there, you are having a very common problem.  I have a sofa
and love seat that are recliners.  We never use the recliners and if we
have anyone in the house that is not family, we put the babies away in
fear they may just open one up.  The only thing that you can do to
prevent this is if your sofa is built so that you can put a piece of
plywood on the bottom of it that will keep your baby out and save your
sofa.  If your sofa is like mine, there is no way of putting plywood on
the bottom that at some spot my babies could not get in.  If you can
close it up though that is the best thing to do as some sofas are a
danger and your baby could get caught in there at some point.  My sofa is
being torn to shreds and I find stuffing and fabric even on the floor.
 
When this set is shot, I will be buying something that is ferret proof
friendly for sure.
