Hi FML,

Well, now Ferret Math may have struck our household. Lori of the Ferret's
Dream House Shelter ([log in to unmask]) called us Sat. afternoon and told us
she had a couple ferrets to "adopt out"; the first a female seemed to need a
bit more attention than we are currently able to give, the 2nd a 6-7 month
old male seemed like he might be a good buddy to Makai who just turned 2 on
April 17th. We had been thinking of getting Makai a buddy anyway, so we
called Lori back later Sat. and told her we'd see how he did with Makai.

Sunday we picked up the little guy. We thought Makai had energy, this
little guy is like max overdrive. Anyway we brought him home and he seemed
to get along with Makai fairly well. There was quite a bit of chasing and
wrestling but overall it went fairly well. The "new kid" is a bit of a
biter, not too bad, but will do the "turn and bite" fairly quick. He got me
once at Lori's and got my wife Tammie during the intro session. Makai's
already kicked his butt a couple times. The first time he screamed a touch
so we broke it up. Shortly thereafter he snipped at me, but I was ready for
him and avoided a good chomp and got a little nip instead. I picked him up
and gave him a good NO BITE speech, he struggled a bit but I held onto him,
I kept him confined a minute or two then let him down.

A few minutes later the butt whooping started again (by Makai to the new
kid), and we broke them up. The newbie tried another turn and bite but
again I was ready for him and gave another *NO BITE* and put him back in his
cage while Makai got to continue playing. He climbed into his hammock and
watched Makai play. After about 5 minutes we let him back out. We let them
both play for a few minutes then sent each to his cage.

That's about it for now. I'll write again as time permits to keep you
informed of our progress with the new guy, especially when we think of a
name for little Mr. High Energy.

-- Tim, Tammie (wife), Haily (cat and Alpha pet), Makai (Alpha Ferret) and
the little "I don't wanna be held or slow down" bolt of energy.
