Hi firends! Blossom here!

Well I have LOTS to tell you some good, some fun and some not so good adn
a reminder for news. I will start out with the good and fun stuff first!
THANK YOU to Aunty Jane's crew: Wolf, Zack ( he used to live here), Pixie
( she used to live here), Derek Jeter (that's Bouncer he used to live
here too), Teddy, Talia, Zoe, Brook, Bonnie , Roo and Buster Brown.
These great friends sent me several bags of Ferret Chew Stix ( I call
them n-bones) and they arrived JUST IN TIME! I say that because Jerimiah
I KNOW you had something to do with this! AUstin has decided to have
FUN in the shelter now that he is in charge! The Good friends at MAFF
sent a number of envelopes of N-bones up and i WAS sharing some- maybe
not enough BUT- AUstin took exception to not having his regular treat
(Mom was ill and shelter Dad is not always good about bedtime snacks)...
anyway Austin took exception to this adn 2 big green envelopes were
stored on the shelf next to the benedryl bottle and some other stuff.

Well Audstin decided he was not waiting anymore and he managed to
actually climb up the front of the shjelfs- REMEMBER JERIMIAH? You did
this too! He got up there and tossed everything off the shellf tyo the
floor then took a ferret leap and he and a few unmentioned other ferrets
had a PARTY getting those pesky n bones out of BOTH bags. We ate them
all day long! In the evening ( late afternoon) Mom came and was so upset
to see lots of orangey poos everywhere she was sputtering thinking we was
ill. NO fear she found one empty envelope that Austin left out- he was
supposed to put it behind the bench- she looked and saw the second one
was missing too. She cleaned up the room, tucked us into the cage then
went hunting for the second green envelope - she found it under the tale
and EMPTY! OH MY! Well, I guess you know NONE of us got treats for a
few days while Poop watch was going on. Now I am so relieved that all my
friends in NY was kind enough to share their treats BUT Mom has them
hidden. That might be good cuz' they will last longer but we did have a
fun day when she did not hide them. Austin you are going to have to
figure something else out now. The newsletter is almost ready to get to
the printers... Mom got a little behind when she was under the weather-
Guess i will have to learn that part too! But it should be finished & in
the mail soon!

Now the not so wonderful part of Mom's worries. Right up til the other
day we were excited about Hop A Long Teddy- he had his cast off adn
things were looking good for 5 minutes, now he has Mom & Dr Sandra all
worried again. Here is what we got for news on Teddy:
update.................

" Yesterday I brought him in to recheck the films. He appeared to have a
nice healing callous on the films -- well formed, and mineralized enough
to take the cast off entirely. (YAY). So I did. The leg looked great
underneath, just a very small, minor pressure sore on one of his pads.
Teeny. I set him back in my office (since he isn't vaccinated, I am not
putting him with the other patients) to consult with one of the other
vets about the rads. I came back FIVE minutes later - and he had decided
to amputate his own leg! He had bitten off ALL of the skin on the leg,
and the foot and toes were all swollen up and bloody. Yikes (bad Teddy).
Rushed him back in to the treatment area, cleaned the wounds (and yes, he
had loosened the fracture site in the biting frenzy - I think he was
"flipping" his leg around while biting because the biting hurt!) - and
reapplied a soft cast. Well, 9pm Teddy decided to take the cast off
again. At least now he didn't bite his leg, but I reapplied it.
Midnight came, and he took it off. I decided to stay up and watch him.
So, Teddy and I spend the night together. He has not gone back to biting
the leg, but I can't keep a soft cast on him to protect the fracture. I
can't put a hard cast on because of the sores he caused. So, right now,
we are keeping him confined and hoping he doesn't re-break the nicely
healed leg -- which he already loosened some. Mom is doing the day
watch, and I'm doing the night watch. I'm sedating him some until the
skin heals over. We may still be ok, but I'm worried. We're putting up
the good fight, though. He was SO GOOD until those 5 minutes yesterday!
I'm hoping that now that he realizes he has toes again, that he'll leave
the leg alone. Once the skin heals, I can put a splint back on if I need
to. If he'll use common sense and go slow, the callous might be enough.
But even 5 minutes of silliness and it will all be over - back to square
one."

OH MAN_ you were almost there Teddy! SIlly Boy. So shelter Mom is
hoping that you all will send lots of healing prayers Teds way. He needs
his leg.. I don't know what I would do if I did not have mine to climb
the cages with!

Please check out our ebay items!!! we seem to have lots more vet stuff
to cover...
