Hi Fellow Ferret Fanciers!

RE: VEGETARIAN PARENTS: I am vegetarian, too, and like Jodi Tyler (her
recent post) I believe that Oliver has nutritional requirements that require
a carnivorous diet. We simply don't know enough nutrition (human or
otherwise) do "play" with our fuzzies' diets. Oliver's nutritional
requirements must be kept separate from my ethical beliefs - until much more
is known about animal nutrition.

AN INTERESTING NOTE, however, is that Oliver has NO interest in any animal
products (he eats his chicken-based kibble, of course). On visits with
friends and relatives, he has been offered poultry, beef etc. - and I don't
even think he registered it as food. After reading about treatments for
sick fuzzies including hand-feeding chicken babyfood, I wondered if Oliver
would ever eat it. I bought some and he didn't touch it. I guess I'd have
to get apricot or maybe green bean babyfood! I suppose he's never been
around meat or seen me eat it. He adores lots of fresh veggies, some fruits
and lots of dried fruits. Interesting, huh?

(He does, however, think there's something awfully tasty about my brother,
(Uncle David) who's staying with us. Can't seem to resist a good nibble of
nose or a generous bite of behind-the-knee. *grin*)

Andrea Maunder and Oliver, the sort-of vegetarian ferret...
"Got any more dried pears, Ma? They're soooooo good!"
