My Kissy's results came back yesterday, and the vet faxed them to me
today. Some of it, I understand, some of it I found in an answer on
the Ferret FAQ on ferretcentral.org, but some still doesn't make sense
to me, so I'll ask here.

What are the following: MCV, MCH, MCHC, Neutrophils, Bands, Monocytes,
Basophils, Urea Nitrogen, ALT (SGPT), AST (SGOT), CPK, and what do
numbers that are off mean (luckily, this blood test shows the "reference
range" for each value)?

NOTE: Most of these are normal for my little girl (her MCH is low, but
just slightly), but I'd like to know for future reference.

One more thing, the blood test report shows that Chloride should be
90-110, but the ferretcentral paperwork says 105-127. Anyone know what
it really should be? Hers is 117, so the report says it's high, but
according to the online info, it would be ok.

All is pretty normal - non-fasting glucose at 80 (she hadn't eaten for at
least 2 hours, although we woke her from a sound sleepn to take her to
the vet, so it might easily have been much longer) - Hematocrit at 34.0
(slightly low, showing slight anemia) - RBC 6.64 (very slightly low,
again slight anemia) - all else is well within normal range.

The vet is slightly concerned that her red blood count is low, but her
blood protein level is normal (said that she would have expected the
protein to be low with a low RBC). The vet would like to retest in a
week, but I hesitate to put Kissy through another blood drawing (which
was traumatic for her) if she's acting fine and since it was such a small
difference from the normal values. Obviously, if she's still tired next
week, it would be a different issue. Any thoughts from people here?

Take care of your little ones, they steal our hearts (as they steal
everything else in reach LOL).

Debbie
