Did you notice which farm's or breeder's ferrets they were? Some force
stores to change conditions when they are wrong. For instance, Marshall
Farms has a history of being good that way *if* the ferrets are MF
ones. It makes sense; poor conditions cause them problems, too, so
others may respond in a similar fashion.

Otherwise, find out which state agencies oversee pet store animals in
that particular state (because feds do not control pet stores) and
which ones oversee pet store licensing.

In addition, you can provide the store with information.

As I am writing this our service is off-line (part of the general
wiring upgrading that is happening throughout the region) and I don't
know if I will have time to try to search later.
