The Midwest Ferret Fellowship participated in Vetavisit 2008 at
Michigan State University this past Saturday (March 29). This has been
an event we, as a group, have been doing since 2002. MSU reported 7,000
people came thru MSU’s vet school open house in the course of 7 hours.

This year was a great year. The students we worked with were stellar
6 DMK kids came with us (Dayton, Drexel, Hamilton, Mason, Peebles &
Toby). They were just awesome. They have come so far since September

.. to the point where they can actually make public appearances

WOW. I was so proud of them. Hamilton was the funniest
.. he is so
high energy and was putting on a show with his antics in the playpen. I
was a bit wary of how he’d do being held but as soon as a vet student
put him in her arms, he went completely docile. He was loving every
minute of it.

Dr. Matti Kuipel stopped by to visit with his wife and son. He was
telling me about his recent work with FIP (Feline infectious
peritonitis) relating to ferrets. I see it's a featured article in
the Ferrets "e-zine".

One nice surprise of the day was Dr. Steve Halstead, Michigan’s State
Veterinarian, stopping by to visit. Dr. Halstead doesn’t like crowds
so it was a real surprise to see him.

This coming weekend is the West Michigan Pet Expo and the DMK kids will
be present both Saturday and Sunday at the Deltaplex in Grand Rapids.
If you're in the area, stop by.
