Ummm ... styptic hurts like @#$#!!! Wouldn't this be unnecessarily
traumatic? Wouldn't a sterile gause pad and light pressure be sufficient
to stop bleeding from wounds?

I won't use styptic on my animals anymore after I applied it to a nick I got
from shaving my legs. Ouch! For bleeding nails, I use cornstarch, but my vet
recently said a bar of soap (the innocuous kind like Ivory) works just fine
and isn't as messy.
