A note of caution: When camping with ferrets be very careful and vigilant.
My third ferret, Duncan, has horribly deformed toes because his previous
owner took him camping when he was six months old and he got into a
firepit. Now it was morning and the fire pit was cool (supposedly) but his
feet got burned and he could not get back out. It does not slow him down
now, several years later, but he only has probably three to four toes with
nails on his back feet and those nails are deformed (one grows up as if the
toe was upside down). I hate to think how it must have hurt at the time
and how much more confident he would be now if he had all his back claws.
