Hello everyone,

A CA group founded in 1995 called the Native Species Network (NSN) has
apparently done no research on the ferret issue and is simply, and sadly, a
mouthpiece for CA Department of Fish and Game misinformation. You can find
DFG ferret fictions on the NSN website <http://www.ncal.verio.com/~nsn/>.
This is just a note to Californians to make sure that neither you nor your
friends, families or co-workers give any money to this kind of
non-scientific, obviously very political organization.

The NSN website even offers the entire Office of Technology Report (OTA)
for downloading from their website. This report is the result of a 3 year
study and found NO FERAL FERRETS in the United States. It did, however,
find feral dogs, cats, horses, goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits, and burros.

So, this non-scientific group, would prefer that Californians get a cat,
dog, horse, goat, pig, sheep, rabbit or burro (which have all demonstrated
an ability to live ferally and impact native wildlife, according to the
OTA report and others) instead of an indoor, neutered ferret which has
demonstrated an inability to do so. Go figure.

I'm not going to take the time to reply to them and neither should you but
spread the word-- this group doesn't deserve anyone's support, financial
or otherwise, because they're positions are non-scientific, inaccurate and
therefore unimportant.

And remember, this is another example of why it is so important that you
all write to both your State Senators and Assemblymembers to legalize
ferrets in California-- get the same people that you warn about the NSN
(friends, family, co-workers etc) to write as well.
