As Thanksgiving is upon us, I would like to say my peace on things we
have to be grateful for.

Everyone is going through trying times in this world and through my own
turmoil and the support of some wonderful people, I have found a way to
keep on plugging and will share it with my FML family. Even when things
seem the worst, you have to know that things are going to get better.
Find something positive in your day and concentrate on that. If you
have a family, you are blessed beyond belief. If you have a
disfunctional family, pull it together, even if it's just for the
holidays. Love each other like each day is your last, as corny as that
sounds, it is so, so true. Life is given and can be taken away in the
blink of an eye. Once they are gone, you can't change anything. Friends
are extensions of family and being related by blood is not necessary to
be considered family. Have you had a falling out with a friend? Patch
it up. That in and of itself is therapy. I would like to thank God, or
whatever spiritual force is up there and looking over every one of us.
I would like to thank the miracles of modern medicine that created that
wonderful device called the pacemaker and saved the life of our very
dear friend and rescuer, Jack Light. He is at home and doing well and
thanks you all for the e cards that were sent. He's not permitted to be
back to regular activity yet and is really enjoying the computer.....
alot more than he used to!

If you are feeling low on family, reach out to your friends. There is
always someone worse off than you are. No matter what your plans are
for the big turkey day, drop a little bag of goodies by a homeless
shelter. It's amazing what a boost you will get by helping someone less
fortunate than you and make you appreciate what you have all that much
more.

Can't afford to donate to Toys for Tots? Here's a little solution.
Always buy a happy meal at McD's. You'll eat less calories and always
have a toy for a child that has nothing.

There are folks I've met on this list and have never met in person that
have saved my soul and sanity. They know who they are and I am
eternally grateful for them. Thank you.

Don't let anyone steal your joy and drag you down with them. Don't
succumb to rumors and gossip. Believe nothing of what you hear and only
half of what you see. These people are the products of small minds of
miserable human beings. Let them wallow in their own miserable little
worlds by themselves. Karma will take care of them.

Rescue an animal in need. They are more worthy than humans because
their predicaments are not due to their irresponsible actions. Rescue
them and they will rescue you right back.....ok, ok, so I grabbed that
line from Pretty Woman...sue me.

Give your kids big hugs, lots of kisses and turkey. Mine love the
giblets, so I get extras and saute them for the little fuzzy buggers.

Hugs to all and a very happy turkey day. Thanks to all that have
supported us over the years and continue to support our rescue efforts.

Regarding the status of our rescue.....As someone said recently, the
dream is only postponed ........until my health is taken care of....the
dream will never die,...thanks to the support of all of you and God's
good grace. We have a few kids on the giving tree because again this
year, I am not able to financially provide the Christmas goodies I have
in years past..What we are desperately in need of however are donations
to complete the remodeling of the ferret room of the house I've had
to move to while I'm recovering with my foot surgeries....or Loew's
gift cards where we will be purchasing the flooring. The hauling and
cleaning is moving along with the help of others when they have the
time. The cost of the floor and some minor carpentry repairs are posing
the biggest challenge right now. My friend and I have found a sub floor
solution called Dri Core, or Dri Lock...something like that. It is a
little pricey but seems to be the best solution. We have a 400 ft area
to cover and the tiles are $6 each. Advance thanks to anyone that can
help, especially if their is a carpenter in the MD area willing to
donate some time. Our girl scout volunteers will be working on their
silver award this year and will be building a new play area for the
fuzzys in the room. When this room is done, it will be truly something
to behold complete with running water, a half bath, and a mini kitchen
for preparing duck soup doses. The goal is to complete it by mid
January.

Blessings and warm fuzzys,
Kim and da kids
