Been through lots of ferret surgeries and I have never experienced a single
ferret that paid any attention to their stitches.  That doesn't mean that
Fang won't, or others haven't, but I'd only worry about it if he does.
 
I saw them put an elizabethan (sp?) collar on a ferret on Emergency Vets
once, and the ferret didn't seem to initially mind, but I don't know how
long he put up with it.
