I just received my first list and noticed that someone was looking for a
ferret in NYC. I'm not sure if this is any help to you but I do not believe
that ferrets are allowed in the five boroughs. I was in a pet shop on Long
Island and they told me that I was required to obtain a ferret license from
NYS Dept of Environment Conservation before they would let me purchase one.
It takes about 30 days to get it. But I noticed on the license form that
they automatically decline all license applications from residents of the
five boroughs. There's no explanation why but the license application that
they gave me appears quite old. Even if they have relaxed this requirement,
they still require a license. I hope this is of some help.

[Moderator's note: NY state *will* take your 10 bucks and issue a license
no matter where you live. They no longer reject applications from NYC. BIG]
