This story is in response to Anthony's post regarding ferrets being
considered rodents.  If you find it shocking that people think ferrets
are rodents, read below.  It is a true story recently recounted by the
person involved.
 
A woman with her child notices a woman with a ferret and explains very
seriously to her child:
"You see that animal over there.  That's a ferret.  It's a cross between
a cat and a rat."
 
And she meant that literally: that a cat mates with a rat to produce a
ferret!!!!
 
After telling the story, the ferret owner said to me, "How can people be
that stupid?"
 
I certainly can't explain it.
