Kathy, we simply use a small dish that locks onto the bars.

We have one which has fantastic clips but couldn't find another one so
in our second carrier I have a cheap one which is supposed to be held
by two metal clips thta are far too loose. It stayed in place for about
10 minutes.

I simply made a couple of holes in it with a hot skewer and attached
it with cable ties. Now they will never budge it, ferrets 0 Mum 1.
