Dilute vinegar won't hurt.  It probably doesn't taste too great to
most people and/or ferrets, but it won't hurt.
 
I remember when I was a child in Atlanta, we had an older gentleman who
would do yard work, etc on an intermittent basis.  Whenever he would cut
himself, or bang his thumb with a hammer, or any type of trauma, he would
drink a small glass of vinegar.  I don't think it ever helped, but he did
live to a ripe old age.  (Pickled, perhaps.)
