Hi everyone,

It's been a long time since I've posted and I finally decided to do so. I
thought I'd tell everyone about a friend of mine that just suffered from a
huge loss. There's a lesson to learn here so PLEASE pay attention.

My friend had an Iguana and unfortunately the heat lamp somehow caused a
fire which torched the whole apartment. He has a dog and a cat and
thankfully they survived because the fire dept. came in time, but the
Iguana died. He burned to death in his cage. They think that the fire
started around his cage. What pisses me off the most is that there were
no smoke detectors which could have maybe prevented the fire or even the
spread of the fire. The landlords didn't give them smoke detectors (which
I think is a law in NYC) and to top it off they were home when this all
happened.

So all of this made me think of my babies and the fact that they are caged.
I must be obsessing about these smoke detectors and checking to see if the
batteries are working. So please do me a favor be careful, check your
smoke detectors and make sure there are no fire hazards because if there is
a fire, God forbid something terrible like this can happen to your fuzzies.

On a different note, I have noticed also that my ferrets are getting
lighter. Actually Maggie who is 1 year and a sable is turning grayish
silver on her head. I shouldn't worry about that right? NA, I don't think
so. Also I take my 4 ferrets with me every weekend to my boyfriends house
which is an hour away. In the summer I BLAST the A/C and they are fine. I
always keep a little water bottle in there just in case. They haven't
overheated.

My heart goes out to all of those who have lost a fuzzy, may you see them
at the Rainbow Bridge.

Rest in Peace Ed (my friends Iguana).
