hi julie.

one of my four ferrets, alvin, sounds a bit like your farley. alvin is a
cute, lovable little guy. but he gets a kick out of waiting until all hell
breaks loose (which happens quite frequently around here....sigh!) and
nobody's paying any attention to him, and he'll dart towards the nearest
plump, juicy human ankle, chomp down, and then run like hell. i think alvin
is directly descended from that "jaws" guy with the steel teeth in that
james bond movie.

anyway, we've tried everything, from nose-thumping, to scruffing, to yelling
at him really loud, but nothing has really worked. 90% of the time, he's a
cuddly little delight. but 10% of the time he's an ankle-chomping little
ferret-terminator.

we (hubby and i) have learned to tolerate alvin's occaisional lust for human
ankle-blood. i know this doesn't provide you with any helpful suggestions.
but we roll with the punches (and chomps) and tend to sit on our feet when
alvin is on the rampage.

i'd love to hear if anyone else has had success in this area.

linda
