Hello all and happy 4th!

With the holiday coming this weekend and summer vacations on the horizon,
I thought now would be a good time to start a discussion about traveling
with pets and leaving them behind with caretakers.

Last summer, we moved with the ferrets to a new state 300 miles away.
Other than that, we don't have much traveling experience with them. We
plan to take them with us this weekend. I would specifically like advice
on helping them to deal with new surroundings, what to pack, and how to
handle an emergency in a new town. We'll pack all the obvious stuff
(cage, food, litter, leashes), but what about the not so obvious? Should
we bring water from home? Additionally, do I need to worry about driving
through any illegal ferret zones? Are there websites for this?

I am sure that this info could benefit many of us on the list. I read it
each morning; so unless you have a very personal reply, please post it to
the FML.

Thanks!
