I'd like to thank everyone for the help.  I have come to the conclusion
Duke is deaf.  I took a pot and a piece of metal piping and started to
bang while everyone was asleep.  Everyone but he awoke (he sleeps alone
most of the time because he doesn't like the hammocks he likes the little
bed we made him.  It's one of those plastic igloos turned upside down and
a litte ferret bed that looks like a dog bed and an old shirt.  HE LOVES
IT!)  Anyway thanks to everyone who e-mailed the suggestions and also I'm
looking to start volunteering at a ferret shelter but I'm having trouble
finding one close to me!  So can anyone just sent the town a ferret
shelter is in (in Massachusetts)?
