Hi everybody,
I just had to share this with you:
My computers and phone are in the same room with our ferrets and their
cages. We've been having problems with our phones...static, interrupted
rings, people unable to get through...a telephone man came to the house and
found the problem. Since I have two phone lines...one jack was on a board
on the floor but elevated at an angle. (I thought it wasn't in use but our
voice line was connected to it) Ruby, our 2 month female albino chose that
as her favorite place to poop. I had papers and bounty under the board and
then on top when she started going on the board but I must have been too
late. Her little pee had corroded the mechanism and that was causing all of
the trouble. I'm not surprised at anything she gets into. When I leave the
house she gets put in her cage. My husband has already been wrong three
times in underestimating her. This was more my fault than hers. She didn't
know any better...or did she?

Our Modean was having problems putting weight on the leg he has a pin in
(he's a rescue) so the doctor x-rayed him and found the ligament was
stretched or torn so Deany is hopping around with a splint on his hind leg.
He doesn't walk, he runs with it. All I can hear is a bump, bump, bump,
bump as he plays. He looks so precious with it on. It's hard not to make a
mess when he goes the bathroom but he's getting better. Meanwhile he's
getting so spoiled. He's a little badger (blaze) and I can't say no when he
begs for a "Bandit."

I sympathize with Catherine, the baby-sitter with 9 ferrets. We have seven
now and it's a good thing my husband is retired. We couldn't do it
otherwise. As it is they have taken over the house. They're not out all at
once and they sleep all day (except for Ruby!) but the changing of water,
food bowls, and poop patrol is never-ending.

Ferrets in Connecticut are usually $130.00 and often on sale for $99. Our
cages run from $35. to $75. so I'm amazed at the $600. price tag Bryan
had to pay in Illinois.

My sympathy to those who have lost their precious pets and good luck to
those in poor health.
