Enjoyed the post re Greatful Dead letting their ferrets swim in the hotel
pool.  And it reminded me of some Nubian Dairy Goat friends, who during a
goat convention, took a buck up the elevator of the hosting hotel and bathed
him in the bathtub!  Wouldn't be suprised if that hotel management got
together afterward & said "Lets not have those goat folks back, and who
knows how to get buck scent out of the drapes"!
 
Back to the subject of ferrets however, for those of us who live on the
river, sooner or later, everything falls in.  Dogs, and cats too, either
slip, jump right in, mis-judge the distance, or land on a slippery log.  So
when my neighbor Linda told me the tale of Baby and the river, it really
wasn't a huge suprise.
 
Linda's house is what's known as a combo, and that's not a typo for condo,
it's half house and half covered boat well.  Her bedroom has a window, which
opens into the boat well part.  You all know what's coming, don't you?  She
thought it was only open a tiny bit.  Just enough to let a sliver of air
through.  So, on her day off, she let her 3 ferret kiddies out of their
cage, then returned for a couple more hours of Z's.  Everything was going
great till SPLAT!  When you live on the water, SPLAT means you are instantly
awake.  Rushing into the boat well portion (it's exactly like going from the
kitchen into the garage, except where the car would sit, it's a big bunch of
water) she fished out the swimming Baby.  The drop from window ledge to
water is 7 feet!  No more open windows!  But Baby, I'm sure, will look for
other ways to amuse herself!
