I have a mail ferret approximately 3 year old, who is a transplant(was
given to us a few weeks back). He was doing fine when he first got here.
We even entered him in an event that Petco was having and he won.

In the past couple of weeks he has really slowed down. He isn't eating
much, next to nothing. All he wants to do is sleep. Tonight we got him
out to see how he looked and acted.

He is very thin, especially in front of his hind legs. He had a hard time
walking when I first woke him and put him in front of his dish. While he
was out we put him on the floor and he staggered a few times and would only
walk a short distance and then lay down.

He almost seems depressed. There isn't any sign of any other problem that
we can see, no hair loss anywhere. One thing we did notice though. His
hair around his genital area is matted and he has a fishy odor to him.
Could it be a bladder or Kidney problem?

What do I try to feed him to get him interested in food again? We even put
him back on the food he was eating when he came here and he still won't
touch it.

We did give him laxitone in case of a hair ball, and tried to give him
ferretvite and he wouldn't have any part of that.

Any help you can give me would be GREATLY appreciated.

Please email me privately so any advise or ideas can be tried immediately.
If I need to get him to the vet I have to call them ASAP to get him
squeezed in to a busy Saturday schedule.

Thanks in advance,
Karen and her 17 fuzzloves :+)
