In case anyone needs reassurance about the safety of pyrethrin, please
see the Wikipedia entry on pyrethrin toxicity:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrethrin#Toxicity

Among insecticides, it is among the safest known for warm-blooded
animals of any kind. It is also biodegradable. If you have any
cold-blooded pets, however, like fish or perhaps even lizards or
snakes, you should use it with caution. And the safest known form is
plain pyrethrin without additives... derivatives like permethrin or
products with additives may be somewhat more hazardous.

But it is effective. Read the rest of the Wikipedia article if you
need convincing.
